Description
This Dill Pickle Grilled Cheese is a savory twist on the classic sandwich — filled with gooey cheese and tangy pickles between golden, buttery bread.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 tablespoons softened butter
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 slices mozzarella cheese (or provolone)
- 4 slices sourdough bread (or preferred sandwich bread)
- 1/2 cup dill pickles, sliced lengthwise (well-drained)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
Instructions
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Place 2 slices of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet.
- Layer with cheddar, mozzarella, and dill pickles. Add Dijon mustard if using.
- Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
- Grill until golden on one side, flip, and grill until cheese is melted.
- Slice in half and serve warm.
Notes
- Use room-temperature butter for easy spreading.
- Pat pickles dry to avoid sogginess.
- Shredded cheese melts faster and more evenly.
- Cook low and slow for the crispiest crust.
- Add dill-flavored chips inside for extra crunch.
