Description
Tender sliced apples slow cooked in a buttery cinnamon brown sugar sauce, inspired by the classic Cracker Barrel fried apples. Cozy, comforting, and incredibly easy to make.

- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 3 pounds apples (Golden Delicious, Fuji, or Gala), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup apple juice or cider
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, sliced
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional)
Instructions
- Place the sliced apples into the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, whisk together brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, lemon juice, apple juice, and vanilla.
- Pour the mixture over the apples and gently toss to coat.
- Scatter butter slices evenly over the top.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours until apples are tender.
- If a thicker sauce is desired, stir in cornstarch during the last 30 minutes.
- Stir gently and serve warm.

- Use apples that hold their shape for best texture.
- Adjust sweetness to taste near the end of cooking.
- Cornstarch is optional for a thicker sauce.
