Description

A rich and comforting casserole layered with seasoned beef, creamy egg noodles, and melted cheddar. It’s the ultimate family-friendly weeknight dinner that’s both affordable and satisfying.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 8 oz wide egg noodles

  • 1 cup cottage cheese

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Cook ground beef with diced onion until browned; drain fat.

  • Add garlic, tomato sauce, seasoning, salt & pepper. Simmer 5–7 mins.

  • Cook and drain egg noodles.

  • Mix noodles with cottage cheese and sour cream.

  • In greased 9×13″ dish, layer: half noodles → half beef → 1 cup cheddar.

  • Repeat layers.

  • Bake uncovered 25–30 mins until bubbly.

  • Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Freshly shredded cheese melts best.

  • You can freeze the baked or unbaked casserole for future meals.

  • Add red pepper flakes for a spicy twist.
