Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar, for dusting
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon


Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Heat 2–3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Using a spoon or piping bag, carefully drop small dollops of batter into the hot oil.
  6. Fry in batches, turning once, until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes.
  7. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  8. While still warm, dust with powdered sugar and cinnamon. Serve immediately.
