  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp orange extract

  • ½ cup sour cream

For the Frosting:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ½ tsp orange extract

  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice

  • 12 tbsp heavy cream (as needed)

  • Orange food coloring (optional)


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets.

  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, soda, and salt.

  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.

  • Add egg, orange zest, juice, vanilla, and orange extract. Mix well.

  • Stir in sour cream until smooth. Gradually add dry ingredients.

  • Scoop dough balls onto the baking sheet.

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely.

  • For frosting: Beat butter, add powdered sugar, then flavorings and juice.

  • Adjust consistency with cream, add food coloring (optional).

  • Frost cookies and garnish with orange zest. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes.

  • Let cookies cool fully before frosting.
