Description

These Cheesy Sausage Wonton Cups are golden, crispy wonton shells filled with a savory mix of browned sausage, melty Mexican-blend cheese, diced bell peppers and creamy ranch dressing—ready in about 35 minutes and perfect for parties, weeknight snacks or game day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (≈ 450 g) country sausage – provides the savory, meaty base.
  • 8 oz (≈ 225 g) shredded Mexican blend cheese – gives the rich melt and flavor depth.
  • ¾ cup red bell pepper, diced – adds sweetness, color and crunch.
  • ¾ cup green bell pepper, diced – complements red pepper, adds freshness and vibrant green color.
  • ½ cup ranch dressing – brings creamy tang and helps bind the filling together.
  • 12 oz (≈ 340 g) wonton wrappers – form the crispy “cups” for the filling.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 °F (175 °C).
  2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the country sausage until well browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain off excess grease.
  3. Meanwhile, dice the red and green bell peppers into small, even pieces.
  4. Press each wonton wrapper into a muffin tin cup (use standard or mini muffin tin, depending on size desired), folding the edges so they form a shell. Bake the empty wonton cups for about 5–10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and crisp.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the browned sausage, shredded cheese, diced bell peppers and ranch dressing. Stir until evenly mixed.
  6. Spoon the sausage-cheese mixture into each prebaked wonton shell, filling nearly to the top.
  7. Return the muffin tin to the oven and bake an additional 5–10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly and the filling is set.
  8. Let the cups cool slightly before serving (this helps them maintain crispness and makes them easier to pick up).

Notes

  • Drain the cooked sausage well to avoid soggy shells.
  • Use a lightly sprayed or non-stick muffin tin to help remove wonton cups easily.
  • Don’t overfill the cups or the filling may spill during baking.
  • If using mini muffin tins, reduce bake time slightly because smaller cups heat through faster.
