This flavorful Salisbury Steak recipe by Bobby Flay features juicy ground beef patties smothered in a rich mushroom gravy. It’s quick to prepare and makes for a comforting, hearty meal perfect for weeknight dinners. Serve with mashed potatoes or your favorite sides!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together until well combined, then form the mixture into four oval patties.
  • Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook them for 5-6 minutes on each side or until they’re browned. Remove the patties and set them aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and sauté them for 3-4 minutes until they’re soft.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine. Gradually add the beef broth while stirring to prevent lumps from forming. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Return the patties to the skillet, cover, and let them simmer for 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Serve the patties topped with the mushroom gravy and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Pair with mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables.
  • For a healthier version, substitute lean ground beef or turkey.
