Description

These Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts are a crispy, sweet mashup of waffles and classic apple fritters, finished with a simple vanilla glaze. Perfect for brunch, dessert, or anytime you need a cozy, homemade treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced small
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle maker and lightly grease it with nonstick spray.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Fold in diced apples.
  5. Scoop 1/4 cup of batter into the waffle maker and cook until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes.
  6. Let waffles cool slightly, then cut into donut-sized rounds using a donut cutter or round tool.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the donut rounds until crisp and golden, 1–2 minutes per side.
  8. For glaze, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Dip or drizzle over donuts.
  9. Let the glaze set before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a perfect flavor balance.
  • Don’t overmix the batter—this keeps the texture soft.
  • Let the glaze set fully before stacking to avoid stickiness.
  • These are best served warm but can be stored and reheated.
