Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced small
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1–2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle maker and lightly grease it with nonstick spray.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed. Fold in diced apples.
- Scoop 1/4 cup of batter into the waffle maker and cook until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes.
- Let waffles cool slightly, then cut into donut-sized rounds using a donut cutter or round tool.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the donut rounds until crisp and golden, 1–2 minutes per side.
- For glaze, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Dip or drizzle over donuts.
- Let the glaze set before serving. Enjoy warm!
Notes
- Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a perfect flavor balance.
- Don’t overmix the batter—this keeps the texture soft.
- Let the glaze set fully before stacking to avoid stickiness.
- These are best served warm but can be stored and reheated.
